Using Sitecore's WeBlog Module
Feb 11, 2013
With so many blogging platforms available on the market, it’s hard to decide which one may be right for your Sitecore site. We recommended Sitecore’s WeBlog module for a client who was experiencing issues with their current, custom-built platform.
The client’s blog was custom-built into their Sitecore site, but they found it cumbersome and lacking a robust feature set. They wanted a platform that would be easily integrated and that would have more features for their growing blog. After evaluating the client's needs against varying solutions, we implemented Sitecore’s WeBlog module. The WeBlog module features[1]:
- Easy posting
- Social sharing
- Search capabilities
- Customizable templates
- Tagging and tag cloud
- RSS Feeds
- Multi-server support
- Comment spam checker
- And more...
Oshyn also helped the client redesign their blogging templates to emphasize popular posts and tags, while making the blog more visually appealing, easier to navigate, and read.
To migrate all the client’s blog content from their current templates to their newly designed templates in WeBlog, Oshyn used Siteport™ — automated migration software. Siteport allows for easy template mapping of content within a Sitecore site redesign.
With the new WeBlog solution implemented, the client is now able to easily update and maintain their blog with new content and author profiles.
