For today’s marketer your typical old school CMS that allows you to make simple content updates is not the type of tool that enables you to leverage your website in a strategic manner. The content you have may be your best weapon but if you have no idea what is and more importantly, what is not effective, then how do you know if your site is helping or hurting your business? Today’s marketers are smarter and more strategic. They are concurrently focused on immediate and long term goals/strategies. It amazes me today that people are still marketing like cavemen. How can their employers possibly think they are doing a good job? Now I realize that all industries are not one size fits all when it comes to marketing strategies but let’s get real. The way that we purchase has changed and we have become smarter and more informed with the age of the internet. Google is an adjective! IMO… the commoditized content management systems that fail to change with the times will end up being the bottom feeders that serve the less sophisticated and uninformed. Keeping up with Jones' or should I say the visionary vendors like Sitecore and Tridion is not a nice to have. For survival sake, it's a must have in the web content management space. Am I out to lunch? Do you disagree?
